Roseman & Company is a boutique consultancy that draws upon the 40 years of experience of its founder and, as needed, brings in other experienced senior executives and businesses to meet your business needs. This experience and these connections allow J. M. Roseman & Company to bring its expertise to the Small to Middle Market Business (SMB) space without the overhead of larger consulting firms.

Founder & CEO

Jim Roseman was a banker for the first ten years of his career and has been in various aspects of the management and information technology consulting business for the last thirty years. In addition to being CEO of J. M. Roseman & Company, his experience includes roles as COO, CFO, CIO for a multi-bank holding company, senior executive and principal roles for a boutique global banking consulting and software firm, and temporary CIO for a rapidly growing real estate company. He's held senior roles with two global information technology and management consulting companies (Accenture and Unisys). The range of Jim's experience in these roles include business and IT strategy, business model assessment and revision, revenue enhancement, operations analysis and improvement, process re-engineering, digital transformation, IT outsourcing advisory, de novo start-ups, new business unit development, and monetization of underutilized assets, etc. Executing various business initiatives in these roles have included M&A and JV development and arranging financing for such ventures; as well as helping closely held companies liquify some or all of their holdings.

None of this is intended to impress but is rather to call attention to how J. M. Roseman & Company can serve as a trusted advisor across a range of business needs, and to know when specialized expertise is warranted and where to go to find it. For start-ups and small to middle market companies we offer a unique blend of experience having run such companies combined with global multinational company expertise that can be brought to bear when required on your specific business needs. This combination can be particularly helpful when navigating today's rapidly changing world of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Jim lives in Dallas, Texas and is happily married to his wife Janet. Together with a combined six siblings and very close family on both sides, they see and experience the world through the family lens. Jim is an elder at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas and is a Fellow and chairman of the board of trustees of the Lewis Tolkien Society in Dallas. After pulling back from his big company roles, and the invariable travel that came with them, Jim has spent a good deal of time writing and lecturing. In 2017 Wipf and Stock published his Rediscovering God's Grand Story: In a Fragmented World of Pieces & Parts, and in 2023 his Habits of the Heart, a historical novel.

Our Approach

J. M. Roseman & Company is a classical advisory consulting firm. This means we don't bring pre-defined solutions (like the guy with a hammer) looking for an appropriate fit for it (looking for a nail). We start with you and your specific need, and once discovered we develop an approach tailored to meet it. This is not to say we don't use standard best practice tools and methods, we do. It simply means we first seek to understand your business in your particular market with your unique value proposition and what has made you successful to date, and what the particular need(s) are that prompt you to seek outside support. This may mean you need help defining the problem, which we can help you with. Or it may mean you have already defined your need and perhaps even the specific solution and as such what you need is someone to manage the project for you, which we can do. In either case, it may be that you don't have the internal resources to to understand the problem or manage the project. In this sense we can serve as a temporary extension of your expert resource needs. Whatever the case, we start with you, perhaps with an assessment followed by a road map and scope definition for a project or phased solution plan.

The point is, we don't come to you with a hammer looking for a nail. In this sense, we are like the internist is in the medical profession: we want to understand the whole for root-cause diagnostic purposes. We want to know about you, your business, and your need(s), diagnose the root cause(s), and define solutions and approaches that are appropriate. That said, we do have specific solution sets and standard methods that are targeted to frequently common needs in each area of the business enterprise. Our experienced executives have seen many if not most of the needs because they have sat in your chair, and thus we have internal specialties we can bring to the table. But further, we have a wide network of specialist solution experts and teaming partners that we can bring under our umbrella or refer you to as appropriate, again similar to specialties in the field of medicine.

Our engagement approaches range from retainers, assessments, road maps, to specific projects that are scoped and scheduled with specific deliverables with a defined value.
